Growing Up....

Although I love that the girls go to school for 3 hours and 20 glorious minutes every day, it gets kind of monotanous after a while; for me anyway. Today was another busy morning and after I made sure the girls were properly dressed (wearing panties and socks) I proceded to brush my teeth and fix my hair so I could drive them to school and not scare their classmates upon arrival. As I am doing this, Shelby comes in and says "Mommy, I couldn't tie my shoes like Daddy told me so I did it the way you do it". I look down and she has her sneakers on and one is tied! I said "Okay, let me see you do the other one". So she did. I almost cried I was so proud, I told her I was proud of her and we called Daddy to tell him. Of course I had to tell her teachers at school and Miss E said her 8 year old son still can't tie his shoes, I was even more proud then!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and it's been nice since I have not had school or clinicals in almost 2 weeks. We have a math test and some computer training to do this week, lecture and then next week we have review class, an oral presentation and next we have a final exam.
We saw the holiday train on Sunday, the girls loved it and we spent time with my sisters and brother and some close friends. Great start to the week, or end of it..........whatever.

I've been a bad ba.d blogger....

I know it's been a while since I have posted here, I am sorry for that. I don't know if anyone reads this or not but sorry.
This summer was very busy as DH had knee surgery, simple surgery that turned out not so much. He hurt his knee at work back in March and finally gave into the pain and went to see a doctor about it, this was in June. They found a mass near his kneecap which needed to be removed pretty quickly 'cause hubs was having troubles, he would bend his knee and sometimes it would not straighten back. The opposite was also true. So off to surgery he went and I figured it would be in and out, wrongo! The physician said it would take roughly an hour to do what he needed to do, add the other stuff they do while you are on the table and thats another hour. Well, 3 1/2 hours later he still had not surfaced from behind the doors and myself & the girls had had enough sitting and waiting (I told the nurse we would wait since I figured a few hours) We had lunch, walked around outside watched some tv...........
Finally about 4 hours later after I harrassed the nurses some so they would do and investigation, he came out of the recovery room and back to the day surgery part of the hospital. He did really well and went for a check after 6 weeks. Then he went to the appointment thinking he would be going back to work the next week or so/ When he got home I knew something was wrong then he showed me some pictures of the mass which was larger by the time they got to it, not good. Then he says it had to be put back, well a small part of it had to be. He tore away part of his kneecap along with some cartiledge andit was sent to Boston for another biopsy and to grow it from his own stem cells. Cool.
Well as it turned out his knee healed just fine without the new bone, he went back to work and is just fine!
I started my registered nurse program in September, I love it so far and am doing really well.
The girls started preschool also and they go for 3 hours and 20 glorious minutes Monday through Friday! Some smart Momma invented preschool so we could get some work done during the day!
Lots of knitting progress also. Maybe tomorrow I will post a couple photos.

What a weekend!

What a weekend! DH told me I needed new brakes on my car, he does our work for us, the easy stuff I guess. Well he started this morning after I got home from work, about 8am, he just got done at around 2;30pm! He ended up having to use a hammer to remove the rotor, which holds the brake thingy to the wheel thingy, not a good thing! It was so rusty, I have a trail of rust in my driveway. It was raining, to top off a great brake job, heavily as he had the whole front end of the car off! He rotated the tires while the tires were off, he likes to do a thorough job, good thing right?
So, of course I only got a few hours of sleep. I could hear the pounding through my ear plugs! I woke up to the banging & thought I was going blind 'cause my eye mask was caught around my head (think tournaquit here!). The children were so quiet that I thought maybe Grammy came to take them to play with her.

Goddess Knits Anniversary KAL

I joined this KAL a few weeks ago & it has started this Saturday. I am using 10/2 bamboo from WEBS in a gorgeous teal color, the yarn is doubled, it is verrry soft & slippery. I had to start a few times because I worked on Saturday night & started it on Sunday after about 4 hours of sleep. I frogged it today & re-started, hopefully I will like it this time. I am using size 5 needles.
I will post a photo later, in the sun..........

Summertime!

I am hoping that spring/summer has finally come to us in upstate NY. I know we had a whole day of rain today, but feel confident about some nice weather coming up soon.
I am anxiously awaiting for registration at school for the fall semester, I am asuming they will send a letter about when we can do it. I talked to the financial aid person who said not to worry about getting the loan applications in right away, it is done a few weeks before the semester starts & I can defer tuition costs until I get approved. I am told I will need to have $750 for books & $150 for uniform upon ordering though, so that will have to be saved as I work a few days a week over the summer. Hope Grammy will watch the girls a few times, babysitters are hard to find around here.
As for knitting, I am working on a few things & waiting to start a few others. I am almost done with 2 Summerlin tanks, they are really like a top to which you sew a bottom/dress to. I made one in a green/blue/natural with a white print skirt and I made one in a pink cotton with a yellow print with small roses on it.
I am slowly finishing Mystic Roses KAL, which is getting a bit tedious for me. It has cables in it, I have never done them before & I am slow at it. It is turning out to be a gorgeous shawl though, I used a cashmerino from Colurmart, 2-ply in a nice bright pink.
I am loving knitting Gail/Nightsong, a pattern available on Ravelry. I am only starting out but a nice knit that goes along easily.
As of Saturday I will start a KAL for the Goddess Anniversary Shawl. I was looking through some of the finished shawls before signing up & they were just amazing! Really, look at them on Ravelry.
I am so tired from the dreary day we had, I'm ready for bed! I have all this free time while the girlies are in bed & I have to wake up so I can do something!!! Time to grab a cup of Gevalia's irish cream blend..................Have a good day!

Progress.......

I think that spring is finally here in New York state. After a very long & dreary winter, so cold & windy this year, snowstorm after snowstorm, ice & everything I hate about winter & cold, spring is finally on the horizon!
I am happy to say that I am almost done with clue 1 of Mystic Roses KAL, it looks good although I see a few "boo-boos" I made on the one side. When I am done with clue 1 I will post a photo, my camera battery is in need of a charge & I don't remember where the charger is.
I am awaiting some yarn from WEBS for the Nightsong pattern shawl KAL on Ravelry. I ordered some Ranco Multi in the colorway Peacock (304) for this. It is a fingering weight yarn & should make a nice shawl.
DH & I made the decision to send the girls to public school next year, it was one we really did not want to make, but $$$ is a big factor. Since I am returning to school next year & the tuition for their school is about $4000 & mine is almost $5000, it kind of came down to this. Our public school is a magnet school has a lot to offer, we just wanted them to have the more Christian education than most kids get these days. We plan on moving after I am done with school, so they would be changing school anyway.........it was a difficult one to make.
I recently made an order with handpaintedyarn.com. I paid on April 2nd & still did not have it on the 20th. I emailed them on the 15th & according to the packing slip, that is when the order was packed. The yarn is lovely though. I get annoyed when I send emails & noone responds, especially when it comes to things I purchase. Oh, well, I guess they are done with my business.

It's Been a Long Time!

I have been neglecting this for so long, I am ashamed of myself! I love to read other people's blogs & have to concentrate now.
Well, I am officially accepted to nursing school for the fall of 2009! Yeah me! I am very excited to say the least.
Now, how to pay for it! It is steep, about $10,000 for the 2 years. It is the evening division, I go for class on Thursday from 6-10 or 11 pm, then we have clinical every other weekend from 7-4pm. It goes all year, there is a short break during the first summer, but it is in August. I won't graduate until October of 2011, it's 20 weeks longer than the traditional day courses. The girls will be going half-day to preschool in the fall, 2 1/2 hours a day, 5 days. I don't think I want to pay the extra to send them all day, it is already going to be $1740 PER child! I hate living in New York sometimes because of the school systems idea of education. Top that off that I am a 5 minute walk to the public school they would go to, but in 2010 they are making it a magnet school & will have to have a lottery for where they would go. Since they are twins, I want them to go to the same school, same class- I don't think they would do as well if separated.
Lots of knitting here.......nothing to show you right now though (I am neglectful in taking photos also!)
